Mavesa is an Ecuadorian business group dedicated to the commercialization of auto parts for more than 90 years and is one of the most representative companies in the market. It distributes worldwide recognized brands, such as HINO trucks, CITROËN and DS Automobiles vehicles, ZXAUTO trucks, LIUGONG and BOMAG machinery, MOMO tires, DongFeng trucks, Skywell 100% electric vehicles, among others.
Its main store is located in the city of Guayaquil, and has branches located in the main cities of the country such as: Quito, Ambato, Cuenca, Machala, Santo Domingo, Portoviejo, Manta, Ibarra and Loja consolidating the widest automotive distribution network nationwide. In total, the operation is supported by 28 agencies that are responsible for distributing and selling the different brands represented by the group. In addition to the sale of vehicles, they developed other lines focused on maintenance and repair services through workshops and the sale of spare parts, focused on generating the best service and support experience for all their customers.
Currently the operation has a CeDi of 5,000mt2 where 38,000Skus are managed. However, the items managed by the entire network are +100,000Skus. The company’s goal is to offer a complete user experience, where they can always count on the availability of any of the services and products marketed by the brand.
In search of an automated process in the warehouse
Mavesa is focused on achieving excellent results in its operation, so one of its objectives is to eliminate and avoid some manual processes they do today. Although they have a good inventory visibility, the processes of reporting, crossdocking, load calculation of collaborators, among others, take a lot of time. With the implementation of the WMS it is expected to automate this control, which is currently done through spreadsheets.
The motivation to start this project and choose a World class solution comes from the company’s interest in always offering the best service to its customers; in addition to following the application of good practices and standards that Hino Motors as its most representative brand requires them on inventory management through the «TPS» (Toyota Production System).
For now, the first step is to implement the WMS in the spare parts and tires distribution center and in a second phase it is expected to continue with the other part of the operation.
The opportunity to see the warehouse in a 3D viewer
At the time of the software selection, the company highlighted a differentiating factor of Infor WMS, this was the 3D warehouse. The company’s goal is to implement it, although the process still takes time because they need the volume of all the spare parts they handle. At the same time, they have invested in a CubiScan to take the reading of all the spare parts that are in the Cedi and thus be able to visualize the map of the entire Distribution Center.
Highlighting the proximity and professionalism of Cerca Technology.
«Through a selection process Cerca stood out because there was a level of professionalism and approach to the operation. More than just selling a product, they accompanied us in all the consulting, they helped us to have clear expectations, calculations and the scope of the software. They never focused on selling just one product but on delivering a complete solution. «
Genaro José Chávez Gómez – Parts and Pieces Manager.
The future of the operation and the platform
According to the company’s digitalization and expansion plan, the WMS is just one edge of the company’s plan, as the next steps are the implementation of automation in all agencies. After this, once the tool is stable, the idea of implementing labor management and other tools that help to improve the visualization of data and complete information for the operation will be studied.
