Signia Logistic Solutions, a leading logistics operator in the pharmaceutical and personal care sector, increases automation and efficiency in its processes through a WMS.

Signia is a Peruvian company with over 30 years of experience providing logistics services to leading companies in the region. It has a fleet capacity of 90 vehicles and 8 distribution centers, managing approximately 40,000 SKUs. Signia employs more than 1000 people.

The company’s experience and expertise, especially in the pharmaceutical sector, enable it to provide clients with good manufacturing, storage, and distribution practices, adding value to service quality, process efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

What were the motivations for acquiring a WMS?

From the start of operations, the company had its own development, which later migrated to an ERP. Operationally, one of the motivations was to generate process efficiency through automation with a much more robust tool to reduce errors and enhance customer satisfaction. Commercially, these improvements would allow Signia to achieve a stronger market position by transferring the efficiency gained through the solution implementation to its clients.

«Now more than ever, the need to automate and virtualize logistics processes to meet customer needs has become evident, and the WMS solution is fully aimed at that.» Néstor Montoya, Operations Manager at Signia.

Why did they choose Infor’s WMS and what was the key to project success?

One of the factors leading to choosing Infor’s WMS was the previous experience with its ERP, which successfully supported operations with complementary developments. As the company naturally grew, a more robust solution was needed, and Infor’s WMS guaranteed full integration. The success of this project was driven by multidisciplinary teams, from Signia’s leadership to operational, IT, and other actors. Thanks also to Cerca Technology, a highly qualified and committed team, who despite the pandemic, provided the confidence to carry out a flawless remote go-live due to restrictions.

How was the go-live phase?

Signia’s project had the particularity of being implemented during the pandemic, a time of prevailing uncertainty. There was a need to go live to fulfill several commitments with clients, a goal that was achieved at the right pace thanks to communication and information gathering. Cerca Technology’s Professional Services Management carried out a remote implementation methodology that allowed ongoing projects to continue, ensuring the usual level of service.

What results did they achieve?

  • Inventory measurement speed increased; from 7 days to 4 days due to WMS organization.
  • Improved batch and expiration date traceability.
  • Reduction in receipt time from 72 hours to 24 hours. Administrative hours for data entry were eliminated.
  • 90% reduction in administrative hours for order entry into the operational area.
  • 90% decrease in dispatch errors.
  • Integration of the reception and assembly process based on the WMS’s VAS concept was achieved.
